The White Mountains of New Hampshire offer a diverse collection of fall photo opportunities. From intimate forest scenes to scenic views of mountains and valleys, you can capture the whole range of views. Rivers lined with colorful trees give us the recipe for intense reflections in the rushing water. There are also waterfalls to be found. Plus stands of birch trees make the forest come alive with their bright white bark, contrasting with the vibrant fall colors.
A key element of a workshop is that I’m out in the field with participants for extended periods of time. I'll be assisting attendees and answering questions while we're out photographing. I'm there to help you build your skills and vision as a photographer. Small groups allow me to work with everyone individually in the field. When not out photographing you’ll spend time learning from presentations, critiques and software demonstrations.
Schedule
The workshop runs from Monday afternoon through Friday morning. The days will be long, but rewarding. The locations I've selected are places I know well. We'll get to the right location at the right time to make the most of the light, land and subject. I'm familiar with where to find the best subjects and scenes, and how to take advantage of the weather and lighting conditions.
Monday
At 3pm we'll meet for an orientation, discuss the schedule, have an instructional presentation and answer questions.
Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday
The three full days of the workshop will be a combination of going out to photograph and learning from presentations and critiques. Most days we'll be out photographing from sunrise to mid-morning and again from late afternoon until sunset. The exact shooting schedule and locations depend on the weather and light. There will also be classroom time which includes presentations, digital workflow, software demos and photo critiques. Photo critiques are a great way to learn how your images can be improved, as well as see how other people photographed the same location. Having critiques during the workshops allows you the opportunity to apply the feedback and try new techniques the next time we go out to photograph.
Friday
We'll photograph at sunrise/early morning and will wrap things up by mid-morning. We’ll usually be done by checkout time at the hotel.
